Ankur Pegu: Ankur has 8 years of experience across different industry verticals such as development, insurance, healthcare, rural infrastructure, telecom and IT. Ankur completed his B.Tech in Computer Science from IIT Bombay in 2001. While at IIT, he worked with India's first campus startup and left it to join the advisory practice of KPMG in 2001. Ankur's decision to join Swasth India May'08 was spurred by his desire to implement rapidly scalable health-systems.
Arvind Saraf: Arvind completed his B. Tech in Computer Science from IIT Kanpur in 2001. Post that he went to MIT for his PhD. Arvind took a break from his PhD and returned to India in 2005, joining Google as part of their R&D team. He has been a grassroot level volunteer for various development sector organisations. Arvind left Google in Apr '08 to pursue his passion in the development sector
Sundeep Kapila: Sundeep completed his B. Tech in Computer Science from IIT Bombay in 2001. While at IIT, he worked with a campus-based startup and subsequently with a Swedish company to develop a product which has been spun off as a separate company. Sundeep joined the India practice of McKinsey &Co in 2001 and worked with them for 6.5 years specialising in the Healthcare and Development sectors. Sundeep left McKinsey in Jan '08 to pursue his passion in the development sector
Core Team:
Shruti Veenam: Shruti finished her B.E. in Computer Science from BMSCE, Bangalore in 2005. Subsequently she worked with an IT company for over a year. After 4 years of active volunteering at various NGOs, she moved on to pursue her passion in the development sector in April 2007. She worked as the coordinator of a youth awareness programme at a Bangalore based NGO, Janaagraha Centre for Citizenship & Democracy. She joined Swasth India in February 2009 to work for economically weaker sections of the society. She continues to be a regular volunteer with not-for-profit organizations and enjoys reading books, writing and dancing in her time off work.
Dr. Swapna Nair: Swapna finished her M.B.B.S.(MUHS) from Mumbai in 2006 and further pursued her Masters in Health Management from the University of Wollongong (NSW, Australia) in 2007-08. She worked with a Holland based international NGO called Médecins Sans Frontièrs for a short term before joining Swasth India in February 2009. She is interested in Health management systems at grassroots level and is looking forward to working in this area at Swasth India.
Dr. Rohan Chaudhari: Rohan has completed his M.B.B.S from Nair Medical College, Mumbai in 2007. While at Nair, he was involved with many research projects and published two papers. His passion is to design and experiment with various health care models with an objective to democratize healthcare. Immediately after completing his graduation he joined as Management Trainee in Nicholas Piramal and later on was part of the management team for Piramal eSwasthya. He worked with Piramal eSwasthya for 2 years co-leading various verticals such as marketing, project design, business development, development of clinical decision support systems, etc.He loves hiking, swimming, football, long bike rides etc.
Dr. Mahek Kharadi: Mahek completed his MBBS from the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, and went to the UK for his Masters of Science in Public Health and Health Promotion from the University of Wales. He also has about one year of work experience in health
management in the UK and India. Mahek keenly follows cricket, football, trivia and music. He is an avid traveller and likes to read up statistical research studies, on the internet.
Our Alumnus:
Dr. Devashish Saini: Dr.Devashish completed his M.B.B.S from AIIMS in 2003. He then went on to do his MS in Heath Informatics from University of Alabama at Birmingham. He did a year of surgery residency at University of Missouri-Columbia. He returned to India to start a business in healthcare space, and joined Swasth India in Nov ‘08. Devashish left Swasth India in Jan '09 to pursue his interests on other ventures in the healthcare space
Sai Pooja: Pooja completed her Dual Degree Programme (B.Tech and M.Tech) in Chemical Engineering from IIT Bombay. She joined Swasth India in February 2009. She considered her internship with Swasth India as an exploratory journey into the development sector; motivated by the opportunity to work with an enthusiastic team of highly motivated individuals. Pooja grew up in Chandigarh and enjoys reading fiction, traveling and writing. She also enjoys playing Basketball and Swimming in her leisure time. Currently, Pooja is pursuing her PhD from the University of Cornell
Our Interns:
Priyanka Karandikar: Priyanka is currently a student at the Boston University School of Public Health. She is a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from GS Medical College, Mumbai and had worked as a physiotherapist at Balanbhai Nanavati Hospital, Mumbai. Priyanka's career goal is to work towards improving health care management and health care delivery systems. From June'09 to August'09, she worked as an intern with Swasth India to design an effective programme for female Community Health Workers in rural Maharashtra. Priyanka is proficient in German and is a trained Kathak dancer.
Kabir Tharani & Abhilash H: Kabir and Abhilash are currently MBA students, with specialisation in Marketing, at the T.A. Pai Management Institute, Manipal. Kabir had previously worked at JP Morgan Chase and also keenly follows Finance. Abhilash had previously worked in Larsen & Toubro, with a secondary interest in Operations. In September'09, Kabir and Abhilash worked as interns with Swasth India to design the Marketing and Promotion Strategy for the launch of a health-product in 140 villages of Solapur district, Maharashtra.
