We are governed by our stated objective of establishing ourselves as a "social business" - in direction, accountability and control. We seek to achieve the dual objective of - (i) economic efficiency and (ii) protection of the welfare of our principal stakeholders (viz. our consumers, implementation partners, technical partners, shareholders, employees and management). The guiding principles of the governance of Swasth India are envisaged as:
Target beneficiaries
- Work for improvement in health conditions of low-income segments in both Urban and Rural areas of India
- Provide a comprehensive health benefit package, incorporating the dual tenets of Curative and Preventive care
- Highly localised design; customised according to the needs of the community
Organisational Targets
- Seek to maximise Social Returns to the community
- Seek to maximise Financial Returns, which in turn would be a catalyst in maximising Social Returns
- Define quantifiable targets for Social and Financial returns
External Participation
- Representatives of the beneficiary communities would be involved in the governance
- Create a public trust for health-cost risk management and to support creation of necessary social infrastructure
- Create an advisory board of luminaries in healthcare
- Work closely with Swasth Foundation, a not-for-profit Trust that focuses on setting up self-sustaining comprehensive health systems which provide low cost and quality health services to low income households. We receive financial aid from the Trust to develop tools, systems and processes which can be shared by Swasth India Trust's partner organizations, hence enabling them to set up similar systems.
